The SAT test is one of the US college admission tests, and is derived from the initials of Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT). In this article we will review together the main sections of the test and how to prepare for the test and get a high score.
1 - Section writing and reading (Reading and Writing section)
This section consists entirely of a set of questions designed to test reading and grammatical skills in the scope of sentences and language paragraphs.
This part of the 65-minute test includes 4 individual sections and another pair of sections, including 52 questions. The sections may vary from storytelling, persuasive, and informative to topics ranging from classical and contemporary literature from the United States and the world, social sciences, historical documents of interest, even basic concepts and recent developments in the various fields of science.
The writing section consists of 4 sections and 44 multiple choice questions and takes 35 minutes. Topics include various professions, social studies, humanities and science.
2- Mathematics Section (Math Section)
The math portion of the SAT test includes two basic sections with 58 questions as a whole. The first section contains 20 questions and takes 25 minutes. The calculator is not allowed in this section. The second section contains 38 questions and takes 55 minutes, and allows the use of the calculator.
In the mathematics section as a whole, there are four basic areas: basic algebra, including linear equations, variance, problem solving and data analysis, advanced algebra concepts including quadratic equations and top-level equations, and finally additional topics in geometry, trigonometry, and complex numbers.
3. Optional essay
In this section, you are asked to read, analyze, and write an article in a time of 50 minutes. The article is evaluated according to three specific criteria: reading, analysis, and writing. Each is given from 2 to 8 degrees, in a range of 6 to 24 degrees.
SAT test scores
The highest score in the literacy section is 800, and in mathematics the maximum score is 800 so the total score is 1600 degrees. The optional article is measured separately and has a maximum of 24 degrees.
Preparation for the SAT test
Good preparation is an effective way to get high grades in this test, you will need strong fundamentals in writing, reading, and math. By training on the test you will also learn about strategies to make the most of how much information you have. You can identify your weaknesses to focus on and improve them before you enroll in the test.
