You may already have heard of ACT and SAT, admission tests for college and universities in the United States, but how different they are by ACT vs SAT. In this article we will review some basic differences that may help you determine which one might be most appropriate for you.
The time allotted to each question
The SAT test gives you a longer time for each question in all parts of the test, especially in the math and reading sections; if you need more time to think about mathematical issues, the ACT test may not be the best choice for you.
Science Section
There is another major difference related to the scientific aspect where the ACT test contains a full section of science consists of 40 questions in a time of 35 minutes while the SAT does not contain this section, and this does not mean that the SAT neglects the scientific concepts, but tested through the sections, data, In reading, writing, and mathematics sections.
Mathematical questions without calculator (No Calculator allowed)
Unlike ACT, which allows the calculator to be used in all math questions, the SAT contains a subset of questions in which the calculator is not allowed to consist of 20 questions in a time of 25 minutes. If you find it difficult to solve sports problems quickly or without a calculator, the ACT may be the right choice for you.
Principles of Mathematics
With regard to mathematics in each test, both focus heavily on algebra; but ACT also tests some concepts that are not addressed in the SAT.
Engineering represents a large aspect of ACT up to 35-45% while less than 10% in SAT of total math questions. Trigonometry represents approximately 7% of ACT while in the SAT it is less than 5% of the total mathematics questions.
ACT addresses some of the concepts that are never addressed in the SAT such as matrices, logarithms, graphs of trigonometric functions.
test grades
In the ACT test, the range ranges from 1-36 while in the SAT the score ranges from 400-1600 degrees
